How to Make Southern Fresh Peach Sweet Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups filtered water
  • 3 medium-size organic peaches, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup mild and light colored honey (this is my favorite honey)
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 4 organic raspberry leaf tea bags (this is my favorite tea brand)
  • 3-4 cups ice

Directions:

  1. In a medium-size saucepan, add 1 ½ cups of filtered water and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and hang the tea bags inside the saucepan, ensuring the tags hang over the side. Cover and let the tea bags steep for 15 minutes.

  2. After steeping, carefully remove the lid and gently squeeze the tea bags to release extra flavor. Discard the tea bags and pour the brewed tea into a heat-safe pitcher or 64 oz mason jar. If your pitcher or jar isn’t heat-safe, let the tea cool to room temperature first.

  3. In the same saucepan, add 4 cups of water, the sliced peaches, and honey. Heat this mixture over medium-high until it reaches a full rolling boil, then reduce to low and simmer for 7 minutes. About halfway through, mash the softened peaches with a wooden spoon or potato masher.

  4. Once the peaches are fully mashed after 7 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat. Set a large fine mesh strainer over a heat-safe measuring cup. Pour the peach mixture through the strainer, using a wooden spoon to press down and release any peach juice. Discard the solids and let the peach syrup cool for 15 minutes.

  5. After the peach syrup has cooled, combine it with the brewed tea, stirring well to mix.

  6. Add ice directly to the peach tea or serve ice in individual glasses, pouring the peach tea over the ice. Serve immediately and enjoy!

How to Serve Southern Fresh Peach Sweet Tea

How to Store Southern Fresh Peach Sweet Tea

To store any leftover sweet tea, pour it into an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator. It can stay fresh for up to 3-5 days. Be sure to stir it again before serving, as some of the ingredients may settle at the bottom.

Tips to Make Southern Fresh Peach Sweet Tea

  1. For an extra depth of flavor, try adding a pinch of cinnamon or ginger to the peach syrup as it simmers.
